A Gathering Place for Tulsa
Project
Boathouse Pavilion is an assembly of 130 unique and individually shaped FRP monocoque structural panels. The panels are supported by an array of steel columns spaced approximately 20 feet apart. The pavilion is located at Gathering Place Park in Tulsa, OK, on the banks of the Arkansas River. The panels are joined by bolted flanges eliminating the need for any secondary internal support structure. The inner and outer FRP surface plus internal flanges total 20,000 ft2. This use of FRP as a shape, as well as its own structure, anticipates a time when composites will be used in a similar way on multistory commercial buildings.
