Balzac Petanque
Project
Balzac Petanque by Claes Oldenburg and Coosje van Bruggen is located at the High Museum in Atlanta, Georgia. The sculpture is fabricated using FRP and post-applied automotive-grade polyurethane paint. FRP reusable molds were created by digitally scanning the artist's models, enlarging, and CNC milling foam patterns. The sculpture has a unique array of invisible connections made of stainless steel, springs, and FRP to allow for the complex assembly on-site without any visible means of anchoring to one another.
